Every month new mysteries are published. Some are hardcover in format, some are paperback reprints of previously published hardcovers, some begin life as a paperback original, and many are available on cassettes, CD's and in large print editions. This is a tremendously popular genre which includes thrillers, espionage, medical, police procedurals, culinary, and legal mysteries along with private eyes, canine, feline, psychic, and anthropological sleuths to name a few. Mysteries are set in locations around the world and in varied time periods of history, including the future. In other words, authors are weaving mysteries into the lives of the whole spectrum of civilization.
This connection with everyday life is what I think makes mysteries so accessable to everyone. In addition, many authors continue the "lives" of their characters in subsequent books, which allow us to follow along as our favorite sleuths grow, change and learn about life much as we do.
As you can see, a mystery is out there for you. I publish a newsletter once a month to let you know forthcoming titles. There are so many titles per month that I don't include them all. So I focus on those authors that I think you'll be most interested in. My list includes the author's name, title of the book, the number in the series if appropriate, the character's name and occupation, and the price. Each newsletter includes a review of 6 to 10 mysteries that I've read personally and that particularly impressed me. Although publishers anticipate releasing titles at a specifc time, Fate has been known to derail the best laid plans, so there may be occasional glitches.
